The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton’s directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. 釜山电影节看的。话剧电影。拍的挺工整。不过，中途我还是睡着了。
"新戏从来话旧事”，一句话非但不指向新生，反而给大陆电影下了死刑判决，仿佛第五代的阴霾还不够窒息，第五代的叛变不够近在眼前，仿佛重写历史仍然是唯一的出路，而我们的观众又究竟要沉迷于陈旧的集体叙事，沉迷于咀嚼和反刍一成不变的窝囊到几时？导演的风格无疑是成熟且自洽的，但或许正是因为太自洽了，他和自己的世界一样一劳永逸地活在了阴间，不需要质疑自己在说什么，拍到了什么，他的人物又意味着什么：场面调度成了唯一的内容，但可供调度的素材又是几乎不存在的，因为从一开始这就是一个人的游戏。 A New Old Play演的究竟是什么戏？一个中国文人一脉相承的春秋大梦：想用一个集体叙事盖过另一个，最终发现无非还是同一个。

但就从审美和美学的角度而言，叹为观止、惊为天人。

挺好看的。灰蒙蒙的电影色彩。四川话的对白。小成本好电影。
老旧又笨重的手艺活，愿意看就愿意一直演下去。看完觉得我们的近代史确实是没有出路。
