The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 文导，这真的不太对劲。剧本也太差了，咋也没想到只讲了完成一个订单的事，抒情段落堆砌！好像是讲这个人怎么穷不是讲这个人怎么创业。从婚宴戏觉得太长然后半天也没有工作的戏又追车了这大段太不好，后面找完王传君接回忆妈妈死了的抒情段落，然后转折就是大家帮忙？文导来讲讲这个转折和讲主角的一堆惨的关系是啥？不过所有演员都还可以，喜欢天津老爷爷
感觉也挑不出太大的毛病，甚至打工人的写照还挺真实的。但是好像没有特别想推荐别人去看的欲望。

还可以吧，中规中矩的励志片，开场7分钟就把所有矛盾都摆在台面上，前30分钟就用了两次“BGM+快剪”，这就显得电影特别白，白到我根本不知道该说啥了，所有矛盾压着就让本来社会矛盾很尖锐的人们更加难受了，最后也依然是一套鸡汤取得了成功
同性恋、恋母、谋杀，男权社会中的禁忌与秘密如同藏在木头堆底下的兔子，导演一根根掀开木头，兔子始终不跑出来，你只能通过缝隙看到兔子颤抖的身体和祈求的眼睛，直到他被抱出来杀死。
难道是因为贺岁的缘故吗，非得加进一些浮夸和喜剧的成分，导致剧情的开始和走向有些不搭，都2013年了，剧情不应该按照这个发展来。
不愧是文导的水平，啊啊啊啊啊把小人物拍的淋漓尽致，所有演员都让人感动，要推荐给家人朋友看！！！！

真正的“犬之力”不是被父权阉割而是会阉割父权的男人。
跟同时期的四海都是聚焦于底层小人物的片子，但文牧野的这个角度可比韩寒聪明多了。国家这几年真是大力发展蓝领 《奇迹》这部电影可谓是踩准了“主旋律”的点子上。
“愚公”可以移山，“笨小孩”也能创造奇迹，影片的最后我感受到了它传递出的满满的幸福感。

因为很久之后才看所以期待放低于是比想象中更真诚，只能说继续期待文牧野导演的其他作品。大女人就要开重机！
有很多场好看的戏，有笑有泪，单独看没问题，但串连起来并不成立，甚至有复刻《药神》的嫌疑。
