The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 感觉韩寒的每一部电影都在讲同一个内核，理想的幻灭，人生的徒劳。我喜欢这种悲剧底色，我也知道它有很多不足，但比起圆滑的成熟，我更喜欢蹩脚的真挚。

分数也太低了吧！虽然问题很多，但还是戳到了我的点。
所有那些客串惊喜小意外都起到了负向效果。节奏上有点奇怪，中间一度感到不知所云，怀疑自己到底在看什么。就好像在吃一盘不正经的菜，没有个印象中该有的味道，但倒也不算太难吃。WOT
从《立春》里的王彩玲，到《小武》，再到《四海》。他们的悲伤好像就从没改变过。他们活得真实又热烈，但生活最终告诉他们的是：你终究会被推着长大，把理想掩埋在乱哄哄的街巷，把青春丢在摩托车身后大片霓虹，然后平静的活着，吃饭，睡觉，和城市里的其他人一样，等待夏天再次来到那片海。
最后目瞪口呆，这是看了个寂寞？所以韩寒的导演风格就是在台词里抖几个机灵是吧……
曾经心不可得，现在心不可得，未来心不可得。
每天都在各处感受到过多的厌女气息 让我开始怀疑自己
看着很轻松开心，随性洒脱的海岛故事，还带着一点小浪漫，有着很强烈的韩寒导演个人风格，看似玩世不恭，但底层深藏赤诚之心。
前面的赛摩托车还有点看点，后面为了生计打工就很冗长无聊了，而且还是个悲剧版的麦琪的礼物。
带着最坏的打算看，仍是一场灾难。影片从20来分钟就出现了明显的剪辑错点，不过事实证明剪辑并不是本片最糟的地方。韩寒审美中的幼稚土鳖之处在片中暴露无遗、遮无可遮，尤其是一再进行自我重复时，观众太容易进行比较了。《乘风破浪》中的小镇青年，《飞驰人生》中的竞速之路以及《后会无期》中的思绪纷飞……机灵几乎没有一次抖成功，一锅炖完尽是残渣。不知道为什么韩寒年龄大了之后反而思念起了中二病、疼痛感那些糟粕，纯真一点儿没有，只是对真正的小镇青年居高临下罢了。近年的现实题材鲜见拍得这么差，本片跟《雄狮少年》还真有不少相似之处，被杀得体无完肤啊！《后会无期》将永远是韩寒最好的电影。
他们都是一座孤岛，在海浪巨轮，风驰电掣中，突然消失，没有奇迹。

片名应该叫《尸海》或者《阴海》。
D+ / 韩寒最佳，中后段有触及到一些真诚的东西（万青的位置），然而导演水平和品味都实在太差，镜头意识只停留在完成叙事表意和偶尔的大全景表现环境，剪辑水平就是随心所欲地配合叙事一通乱剪来回正反打，情节趣味更是难以理解。
而颠覆了造型的小土狗刘昊然居然还散发出一种独特味道，也给了角色更丰富的角色弧光。
韩寒通过四部作品逐渐证实自己是个造型导演。

没那么好 也没那么差。可能我的新年一直都不怎么喜庆热闹，和男朋友一起看这么个片子也不觉着有什么不妥。他倒是以为“很搞笑”去看了，结果是部有点割裂的文艺片。所以可以说是有点土嗨又有点丧的小作文。
很讽刺，《四海》的英文名是《Only fools rush in》，可不咋地，确实是只有傻子才看，这到底是要表达什么？嗯？
