The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 看到郑宇星爸爸出场就知道本片是LGBT了，太gay了。男同性恋导演拍这几种感情，陈辰想抓着爸妈的亲情和“安全感”不放手所以畏惧改变；陈辰长达一年多的暗恋；曲老师收手机时面对台下零零散散的“学习”声音愣住，简直手到擒来，细腻极了。残酷的青春片，太贴近生活太贴近我。

不得不说吴磊真的很会用眼睛演戏，在办公室时因为一句话就泪眼婆娑，直接将郑宇星的人物故事感拉到最高。用情很深却又不愿意面对的的郑宇星被吴磊诠释得更加真实动人。感谢吴磊带来的郑宇星，希望未来的郑宇星，永远勇敢，永远被爱。至于有些隐晦的表达，又何必追求一个确定的答案呢。
少女成年后看见DJ台上的巨大屏幕，音乐节上那些未来科幻的壮大设计，这些视觉元素都组成了影片中那些令人着迷的、警惕的那些大而无形之物，是来自未知一方的感召。MING又是何者，网络另一边的观看者有着怎样的势力，这些来自沉默体的非现实与少年少女所处的现实互相拉扯，青春的不稳定性便被置于这夹缝中。
本来想四星，但是看到这铺天盖地的差评，那我给我五星吧。
抛开他们确实甜 男主喜不喜欢男的这件事 还有男主为什么要亲女主这件事实在令人迷惑😅
怎么说呢 你很难说这是高压线下导演的小巧思还是故意留的灰色空间了 另外 如果这部电影想要在前者做到极致 我建议取消字幕（但我还是哭了 吴磊还是好看 爱而不得还是让人难过
不管喜欢男的还是女的，青春期里的爱其实是一种探索。 看着又想起了蓝色大门

3.挺好的真拍挺好的
通过留级确保18岁能喝酒，通过留白保留Ming的性别，真的拿捏得太准了，关键是顺理成章！
非常棒的剧本，今年最佳华语片之一。对我来说是不是gay是意识形态层面的事，不影响观感，张子枫和吴磊的关系仍然成立，从这一点上本片剧本比《一秒钟》更强大，《一秒钟》是删改之后弱了很多。万恶的审查，大家只能是“干净版”上映、宣传期补齐，无形中提升了中国电影界宣传人员的重要性。大家都演得很放松，都在做力所能及范围内的表演，我觉得现场应该会有不少即兴的部分，导演能捕捉到这些很不容易，台词不需要很努力念出来就能听上去很真实，连我对刘丹的印象都好转了，她在鼓楼西演阎鸿亚翻译、过爷导的《婚姻情境》，整个组都太差了，不是她的问题，这部帮她挽回点颜面。
BGM很加分 夏天真好 青春真好 吴磊弟弟一哭我心碎了
朋友没法去，把点映票让给我了，发现有郝蕾祖峰还是挺感兴趣的。看完之后，两位老师不愧是老戏骨，很喜欢他俩的对手戏，不管在任何年纪都有追逐爱的权利，这也是另一种“青春”的体现。

吴磊终于在自己少年气几近褪去的时候演到青春片，更重要的是顺带解锁同志身份，虽然校园阳光直男气息还是很浓，以至于我前半程一直怀疑陈正道给吴磊的剧本压根就没点明Ming是男生这件事。
我看了微博和豆瓣说的不敢去看了，看了之后问两个朋友他们怎么看ming，他俩说如果我不说他们没有感受出来，我说之后他们也觉得合理，怎么说呢，就是不应该局限于ming的性别吧。前期看的很轻松，场里招生也很多，后期有人哭了，我没哭，总感觉心被压着提不上气来！总之，我觉得值七分以上，一星的可能觉得自己被骗了！总之我觉得演员演的都挺好！抛开ming，是部不落窠臼的的好片！
