The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 太特么棒了！ 一部脱胎于老式恐怖片却不走寻常路的电影！如果是传统的恐怖片的恐怖是来自于未知和突然的惊吓，那么这部电影就把已知的、缓慢的恐怖做的令人癫狂！片中的老人既恐怖又让人可怜和感动，很值得深思。
A24是不是也像银河映像似的有个杜琪峰那样的人？
任你怎么去分析它的主题立意或是风格影像，都改变不了剧情设计很蠢笨的事实，变态与膈应可不是一部恐怖片成功与否的标准。
里面那几个妹子还都挺好看，各有风格，而且那些拍片场景太香艳了，国内没看过的值得出资源下载了瞅瞅。全片居然还有不少笑点，太意外了。恐怖片里算是质量不错的。最后就是，我一开始觉得脚指甲油好看，外型也对胃口的那姑娘，居然活到最后了，真好嘿嘿。
这部电影就包含了所有因素。
老太太的作案动机是恐怖片中挺新奇的一种，饱含对青春年华逝水的挽歌，余存体内的性欲被外来的X级电影唤醒，怒冲心头的嫉妒漾出了心际，鳄鱼的捕猎，农叉的死念，空弹的手枪，年少轻狂过后，只有病态的无谓与疯狂的屠杀。
太棒了！近几年恐怖片烂作频出、导致许久未看这个类型的，不料抽起【X】观看被惊艳到了，即复古又有逼格，剪辑上也非常喜欢！想不到恐怖片可以这样拍！音乐也是好听，哪里可以买到原声大碟？
切入点倒是挺独特的，不灭的嫉妒与溺爱。故事的叙述有点儿缺重点，太流水账了。
女主28岁了，依然少女感十足；题材也很有新意，虽然不怎么恐怖。
就是说，年轻就要大做爱，年纪大了还有杏玉，会被年轻人羞辱的，全片我居然觉得那个穿三角裤的韦恩挺性感的，想跟他doi，1979年，是比1984还要迷人的年代！
情欲恐怖版美国梦，一个电影叙事的梦写出了美国梦的颓废底色。
我一直对贩卖血浆的砍杀电影嗤之以鼻，但是这一部比较克制，举个例子，有一段血溅到车灯上，灯光变红，于是整个画面变红。而且电影本质的反派是一种衰老的恐惧，电影中很多剪辑构图都在渲染这个氛围，你一旦注意到片中最恐怖的声音是什么，就立刻会知道这部恐怖片的优秀之处。同样，好的恐怖片我不推荐观看。
小作坊porn混搭德州电锯杀人狂，中间对porn、性和爱的探讨还一度脱离了低级趣味，总体是个严肃的情色恐怖片。

不愧是A24出品将七八十年代B级片风格重新解构做出如此文艺的作品。猎奇故事开始最后进入残暴时间全片致敬录影带时期B级片但特别不喜欢硬切换的剪辑方式，只能说导演追求个性忽略B级片本质就是简单粗暴
有受到惊吓…不过里面很多致敬的场面还比较有意思
依旧是一部杀疯了的恐怖片。片中片照应的故事，作为一个对色情片有追求的导演，把后半段拍成恐怖片也很合理吧......郊外租房，行为怪异的人这种老套的故事，床震那段笑死了。
